Exploring Seated Shapes

The original meaning of the word “āsana” is “seat”. Up until the development of Hatha Yoga in the 11th to 14th centuries, we’ve found evidence of only a dozen or so yogic poses, and they were ALL seated.

Considering their historical importance, and the fact that we rarely get given much time to play in class, I’ve put together this short video to help you explore a handful of seated shapes.

Hopefully you’ll get to know your body a little better, so that you can make the choices that are right for you during practice.
